The mission of our UCEDD in Developmental Disabilities is to be of assistance in improving the quality of life for Oregonians and all persons with developmental disabilities and their families. To accomplish this mission, we provide training, technical assistance, interdisciplinary training, dissemination, networking and model development that responds effectively, and in a culturally competent fashion, to the multiple needs of individuals and their families from diverse racial, cultural, ethnic and linguistic groups of individuals. In the conduct of our programmatic activities we strive to address and acknowledge our consumers' diverse experiences while honoring and respecting their race, culture, ethnicity, language, religion, sexual orientation, and economic status. Housed within the College of Education at the University of Oregon, the UCEDD performs coordination and management functions for the Center on Human Development (CHD), which is one of the four major institutes with the College. Populations of all ages are involved in a broad spectrum of CHD-UCEDD research, development and service-related activities. These activities involve preschool and school-age children, as well as youth and adults.
